The Virtual Monkey
The Buddy System,
Thursday, 9/10/2020 at 6:00 pm Pacific time.
We had such a great time with Art Fisher (Art Deco) on our last broadcast, we're brining him back and not only that, but I've added bassist Jim Reeves to round out the sound, so we're a band now and I've dubbed it The Buddy System ('cause we're all buddies, see what I did there?). Art, Jim, Jeff, and I are gonna just have the time of our lives makin' cool music for your hot souls to enjoy. So tune in, grab a cold drink, kick back and join us, won't you?

If you don't do Facebook you can also view the show by clicking this link to be taken to Vision's website. Vision is where we broadcast the shows from and they're simulcast to both Facebook and Vision's website. You just won't be able to participate in real-time commenting.

I'll be playing at Seaport Village this Monday, 9/7/2020 in the food court over near the Carousel, from 1 to 4 pm.
Take the day to get down by the water where the breeze is, and the trees is, and the Ben & Jerreeze is, and relax while I sing to ya. Bring your mask, though!

I'll be playing the Next to Last Padres Homestand of 2020 at The Tin Fish Gaslamp, Starting Monday, 9/7 and going through Wednesday 9/16 (see below for times)The shortened Padres season is coming to a close soon, and I'll be seeing it out with 10 days straight at my home away from home, The Tin Fish restaurant, located at the corner of 6th Ave and L Street in San Diego's historic Gaslamp district. Most of the games start at 6:10 and for those games I'll start at 5:00 and play until 8:00, but there are two 1:10 games for which I'll be starting at 1:00 pm and play until 4:00.

The patio is spacious and set up nicely to keep that mandatory 6 foot distance between everyone, and masks will be required.

It's a great hang so come be part of the fun while helping to support this wonderful downtown institution and keep it afloat during this crisis.

See Ya Soon
I hope that it won't be too long before we can all get together for a Folkey Monkey live again at Vision, but in the meantime I hope you all stay well by following the common sense guidelines. It's a real pain to have to do this isolation bit, but I truly believe it's in all our best interests.

I love singing my songs, and the songs of other's I've chosen to learn, for you. The vast majority of the cover songs I know I learned because I loved them, not necessarily because they were popular. They spoke to me in some deep way or were simply fun to learn, master and perform. So I do them with as much joy as my own songs. Music is: my life, my passion, what makes me tick; the sound of it, the meaning in the words, the rhythm, even the pressure I feel in my chest or ears when the volume is just right. It's like my drug. Thank you for enabling me in this indulgence that I've known since I was a young boy. I'd do it whether there was an audience or not, but I do hope that by pursuing this passion to bring you some collateral joy.

Joe Rathburn
