Hi all.

Sorry for all the extra emails, but Covid makes things turn on a dime. I hope this finds you well and gettin' through this ok.

As most of you know, I've played at the restaurant called The Tin Fish Gaslamp for the past 15 years, this being my 16th year there. Normally I've played only before Padres home games, but this year, of course, has been different. I started playing at The Fish this year only in mid August, and now they've decided to have me on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, even when there's no Padres game. Here's why.

The restaurant industry was hit hard by this lockdown and The Tin Fish has been no exception. Business has been so bad for them I've decided to play for them for free so as to just give them the opportunity to get back on their feet! The only way that will help though is if I bring in enough business to make a dent. I may be free to them, but they still have to pay staff and all other overhead while they're open, so If I don't bring anyone out it won't be helpful to have me there.

So if you've enjoyed a Tin Fish experience with me in the past, please consider coming down some Friday, Saturday or Sunday to relive that experience again. If you've never been to The Tin Fish, treat yourself to their great food, downtown views, people watching, and, of course, some good tunes. Help me keep this 'home away from home' of mine in business!

Our last show was such a blast we decided to continue with this Buddy System band. Our last theme was "Songs from A to B" drawn from my extensive repertoire, and that proved to be a very enjoyable and eclectic mix of music. This show we're going to delve into the Cs and the Ds. Ooooh!

So join us, if you will, as we take the fun and spontaneous "arrangements while you wait" approach to having a good ol' time. I hope that it won't be too long before we can all get together for a Folkey Monkey live again at Vision, but in the meantime I hope you all stay well by following the common sense guidelines. It's a real pain to have to do this isolation bit, but I truly believe it's in all our best interests.

I love singing my songs, and the songs of other's I've chosen to learn, for you. The vast majority of the cover songs I know I learned because I loved them, not necessarily because they were popular. They spoke to me in some deep way or were simply fun to learn, master and perform. So I do them with as much joy as my own songs. Music is: my life, my passion, what makes me tick; the sound of it, the meaning in the words, the rhythm, even the pressure I feel in my chest or ears when the volume is just right. It's like my drug. Thank you for enabling me in this indulgence that I've known since I was a young boy. I'd do it whether there was an audience or not, but I do hope that by pursuing this passion to bring you some collateral joy.
